1. Overview

FairwayIntel ("we," "us," or "our") operates the FairwayIntel golf intelligence platform at fairwayintel.app. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and optionally your phone number.

Golf Profile: During onboarding, you may provide your handicap, playing style, walk/ride preference, rounds per season, and home course selection. All golf profile fields are optional.

User-Submitted Content: If you submit course condition reports, corrections, suggestions, or round logs, we collect that data along with your user ID and timestamp.

Usage Data: We collect basic usage information including pages visited, features used, and device/browser type. This data is transmitted to Mixpanel, a behavioral analytics service, to help us understand how users interact with the product. We do not use third-party trackers that follow you across the web.

Authentication Data: Account authentication is handled by Supabase (our database provider). Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We do not have access to your password.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the Service: Display personalized course intelligence, weather data, and recommendations based on your location and golf profile.
  • AI Processing: Your golf profile data (handicap, playing style) is sent to AI models (Claude by Anthropic) to generate personalized course assessments. This data is processed per-request and not stored by the AI provider.
  • Communications: Send account verification emails, beta approval/denial notifications, and service-related messages. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.
  • Improve the Service: Aggregate and anonymize usage data to improve features and fix issues.
  • User Contributions: Course reports and corrections you submit may be used to improve data accuracy for all users.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Supabase: Database hosting and authentication (data stored in the United States).
  • Vercel: Application hosting and deployment.
  • Anthropic (Claude AI): AI processing for course intelligence generation. Golf profile data is sent per-request for personalized assessments only.
  • OpenWeatherMap: Location coordinates (latitude/longitude of courses, not your personal location) are sent to retrieve weather data.
  • Mixpanel: Behavioral analytics — page views and feature usage events are sent to Mixpanel to help us understand how users interact with the product. No advertising or cross-site tracking.
  • Fastmail: Email delivery for account notifications.

We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety and rights of FairwayIntel or its users.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. User-submitted content (reports, corrections) is retained indefinitely to maintain data quality. If you delete your account, your personal information (name, email, phone, golf profile) will be removed within 30 days. Anonymized contributions may be retained.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data.
  • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Opt-out: Opt out of non-essential communications at any time.

7. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management only. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers. Behavioral analytics are collected via Mixpanel, which uses localStorage rather than cookies to store its identifiers — no analytics cookies are set. However, usage events (page views, feature interactions) are transmitted to Mixpanel's servers. We do not collect IP addresses for analytics purposes.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), hashed passwords, row-level security policies on our database, and role-based access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
